:bulletred:Time for the featured most-active-watcher of the week! :bulletred:
(Yes, im featuring all my watchers who are very active simply because they are awesome!) to read how this started or to see who is next on the feature list, go to my previous journal: [link]

Now, without further ado,
The first deviant I'll feature is:

Deviant ~RAVELO seriously needs no introduction! Just head out to his gallery and you'll know why. His digital illustrations put experts to shame. He uses soild lines to create impeccable details in his work. One such example of his work is 'Virus' [link]

There are two things I absolutely adore about this piece
:bulletred: The level of detail: The small bits and pieces of solid black lines to create an over all perfect detail is hard to accomplish. It takes skill and confidence to achieve such a feat. The greys in the background really helps 'pop' out the image itself.
:bulletred: The other thing is the subject itself: The creature design is unique, yet not so much that the viewer wont buy it. It is the perfect balance between the unique 'out-of-this-world' design and the common place 'expected' creature design. Now I'm no expert at it but this balance, I believe, is perhaps one of the most important aspect when it comes to character design. This is because it helps the viewer to 'connect' to the unique new design via the old previously conceived idea.

These very ideas are also present in his more popular work 'TREPADOR NOCTURNO COLOREADO' [link]

:bulletred: Here, another thing to notice is his brilliant use of color to bring this creature to life. The beautiful blue highlights adds that extra 'zing' to the concept, the sucker-feet at the bottom tear it away from the traditional 'diabloisque' creature one might expect, adding to the 'surprise' of the art.

I would strongly suggest you guys to take a look at his gallery!

I totally agree with your opinion about Ravelo's work, the details, dedication and quality invested in them are what makes them great.
He hooked me up with his Earthworm Jim art but his whole gallery is awesome and even thought I don't really know a thing about drawing monsters or creatures in general I do like them.
BTW I didn´t know about your work but your going to my devwatch list, it's awesome :D
